Can I pay with crypto?
Yes, you can pay with any crypto through and any wallet.
How can I lower the cost of crypto payments?
You have multiple options:
  1. Top-up your Ironlink balance for multiple months (you can refund anytime, payment fees apply)
  2. Select cryptocurrencies and networks with low payment fees such as Avalanche or Polygon
  3. Sign up for cryptomus wallet account (they make crypto easy and welcome Iranians)
Do you offer a free trial?
No, but all plans come with a 30-day money back guarantee.
Why am I asked to top up more than 1 month of service?
You can use crypto payments and top up just 1 month of service each month to keep cash at your hand. However, foreign card payment networks have high payment fees so we require a minimum $10 top up in order to keep overall cost low. You can withdraw the money anytime, but payment fees apply.
Do you support Android, iOS, MacOS and Windows ?
Yes. You will be able to download our apps after you sign up for the service.
In which countries do you host your VPN servers?
Currently, all our VPN servers are hosted in the EU. The actual location of the servers changes as the Iranian censors continuously attempt to block the free flow of information.
Is it legal for Ironlink to serve Iranians?
Yes. It's perfectly legal. The EU and even the US actively support freedom of speech, assembly and private communication for the people of Iran.
Is it legal to use a VPN in Iran?
Technically speaking, it's not legal to use VPN in Iran without a government authorization. Practically speaking, everyone is using the VPN and the government thugs give good people trouble even if they do fully legal things. Rule of law and voice of people mean nothing to them.
Where can I download the apps?
Log in and then click on devices and apps. You will be able to add a new device if you have an active plan and available quota or expand "available devices" to get the apps and activation codes.
Where can I get activation code?
Log in and then click on devices and apps. You will be able to add a new device if you have an active plan and available quota or expand "available devices" to get the apps and activation codes.
How to tell if my VPN is working?
Click on "connect" in the Ironlink VPN app.

If it gets connected, you will see data flowing up and down. If the data flows in both direction, the VPN should be working.

If no data is coming in, open a blocked app (e.g. YouTube), refresh the page, return to the VPN app and see if there is data coming in over the next 5-10 seconds. If data is coming in, the VPN is working even if YouTube doesn’t load.

If the VPN is not working, see FAQ What to do if my VPN is not working?
What to do if my VPN can’t connect?
Firstly, check whether your non-VPNed internet is working - open https://cafebazaar.ir/ and at least one other local website to make sure the pages load.

Secondly, restart your phone: If your internet connectivity is working but the VPN doesn’t show any traffic, restart your device.

Thirdly, try on another device:
If you still can’t connect, check whether your other devices are able to connect. If you are able to connect on another device,
  1. Uninstall or at least deactivate any other VPNs on your device before trying to connect (some VPNs sneakily start and connect automatically at the device start)
  2. Disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily to see if that resolves the issue.
  3. Copy & store an app activation code (see FAQ How do I set up the VPN on another device?),
  4. Download the latest app from https://www.ironlink.app/
  5. Uninstall and newly install the app on the device where you can’t connect
  6. Activate the new app with the copied code in #3
  7. Try connecting again

Fourthly, if the app can't connect, send logs to support@ironlink.app or via our Telegram and wait for help.

Error when opening the app?
Firstly, disable firewall & antivirus: Disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily to see if that resolves the issue. If your windows does not have firewall option, please spend a dollar, buy an OEM version of the windows and reinstall the OS. Seriously...

Secondly, reinstall the app:
  1. Copy & store an app activation code (see FAQ How do I set up the VPN on another device?)
  2. Download the latest app from https://www.ironlink.app/
  3. Uninstall and newly install the app on the device where you can’t connect
  4. Activate the new app with the copied code in #1
  5. Try opening the app again
What to do if my VPN is not working?
First, see FAQ How to tell if my VPN is working?

If you followed the guide but the VPN still isn't working, try changing your network (from WIFI to mobile data, or alternatively from mobile or WIFI) and then test the connectivity.

If you can’t change the network on the affected device, test the VPN connectivity on another device which can connect to at least 2 different networks (WIFI & mobile).

If none works, email support@ironlink.app and mention your registered account (telegram, gmail, apple or email so we can look up your account info), describe your device, region, internet service provider and ideally tell us your app version and what you have tried already.
How do I set up the VPN on another device?
Log in to your account at https://www.ironlink.app/, go to devices and apps, there click to Download & activate app. You should see an expanded windows offering you application download and tell you an activation link.

Copy the activation link and paste it into the app on a newly installed device.
How can I tell if my VPN connection is secure?
If the VPN is on, all traffic to outside of Iran will receive an extra layer of end-to-end encryption from your device to our VPN server and then continue securely based on the website’s security policies (i.e. HTTPS traffic will add a second layer of encryption from your device all the way to the web service, such as Google, YouTube etc.)

All local Iranian traffic will not be routed via the VPN (all data is anyway monitored and the VPN doesn’t add any value). Connection security is determined by the web service provider - keep an eye on the padlock in your browser, which signals HTTPS encrypted connection. Ironlink can’t make this any more secure.
Will a VPN slow down my internet connection?
The expected slowdown is around 10%, but it could be slower than that due to the fact that the government and local telecoms will restrict the cross boarder bandwidth or employ highly intrusive network surveillance tools (all VPN traffic leading outside of Iran will be encrypted and remain private in face of these tools).

Please note, local Iranian traffic will not be routed via the VPN because all data is anyway monitored and the VPN doesn’t add any value and only slows down the connection.
Can I use a VPN to torrent?
Please don’t. If the police identify our VPN as a source of illegal torrenting, we will be legally required to identify which accounts use torrent protocols (we won’t be able to see or log the content of the data) and shut down your account and potentially even hand over your account information as mandated by the German/EU law.
